When we first moved into our current home 10 years ago, one of the first things we did was repaint the whole house. I chose Grant Beige by Benjamin Moore, but in our bedroom I thought it would be fun to add an accent wall.
I'm obsessed with Navy, so I chose Benjamin Moore's Hale Navy. You can see all the before photos in week one's post. Honestly, I loved it, but when I decided to refresh our bedroom for the One Room Challenge, I wanted something a little different with a more relaxing vibe.
Let me show you which one!

How the Right Bedroom Paint Colors Set the Mood
Color can most definitely alter the mood of your space – especially in your bedroom. Our bedrooms should be a place to decompress and relax. The wrong color could really mess with your day.
The whole goal of this bedroom refresh is to create a retreat for ourselves to begin and end our day in peace. I know the wall color was going to have a huge impact on that. That's why I went with Evergreen Fog by Sherwin Williams.
I used this color for a client's built-ins in her living room, and it was absolutely gorgeous. I knew I it was exactly what I was looking for to get the vibe I wanted.
Why Evergreen Fog is Great for a Primary Bedroom
What I love most is how it interacts with the light. In the morning, it feels cool and refreshing. In the evening, it softens into a cozy cocoon without feeling dark. It pairs beautifully with natural textures, brass accents, wood tones, and even soft blush or cream if you want to warm it up.
It's also a great color for east-facing rooms. It works well because it has a very neutral, almost gray undertone. It was the color of the year in 2022 and it's obvious why. It's just so gorgeous! It really gives the room a designer touch, and all I did was paint! The calm and restful vibe is just what the doctor ordered.
The Best Way to Test Paint Colors is to Use Samplize
Have you ever used Samplize? It is the BEST way to test paint colors. They are stickers that have real paint on them. They are super easy to move around to test in different lighting and different walls of the room.
The beautiful thing about it, other than how easy they are to use, is that they can save you so much time and money without all the second-guessing. If you’re ever on the fence or just overwhelmed by all the options, Samplize is a great place to start.
For a color that brings personality without overwhelming a space, you should definitely consider Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog. It’s unique, serene, and works beautifully in a variety of bedroom styles.
Paint might seem like a small thing, but when you pick the right one, it changes everything. It sets the tone for better sleep, more calm, and maybe even a little more joy at the end of a long day.
