Neutral Nursery Rugs | My Favorites + What to Look for
Choosing a rug for your baby's nursery can be daunting. Here are my top picks for neutral nursery rugs plus what you should look for when choosing your own.
Operation Nursery is in full effect.
The third trimester has me highly motivated to get these projects done before we meet our little one.
Because this is our first child, I have so much running through my brain about the unknown, but gosh darnit this nursery is going to look amazing.
Before I show you my favorite neutral picks, did you know that many synthetic rugs put off a gas into the air?
I had no idea.
I found a website with some helpful information on what to look for when shopping for the perfect nursery rug.
You should definitely check it out before conducting your own research.
All of the rugs included here have the materials that work best for a nursery.
I'm excited to share with you some of my research on great area rugs for our baby girl's nursery.
Let's check them out!

1. Cream Sovereign Textured Rug

This rug gives me all those boho vibes in a subtle way.
I decided to stick with a neutral-colored rug in hopes that baby girl Ciz can keep it long term.
I love the hint of pizzazz this rug gives the space and what a great deal it is!
The link below the picture will show you all the details along with some tagged instagram photos of rooms with this rug in it.
It is a combination of wool, cotton, and polyester, so it is nursery approved, but some of the reviews stated it has a green undertone, so if you are going with a room that doesn't fit well with a hint of green, this one may not be for you.
However, I think the hint of green gives it some depth.
2. Geometric Tufted Area Rug

This area rug from Walmart is just beautiful in the pictures I saw in other rooms.
It comes in light gray and ivory or light beige and ivory depending on what you are going for.
It is made of a 100% wool, so it is nursery approved.
I love the subtle pattern that gives it just a pop of interest.
The only draw back I read about was that it does shed a bit because of the all wool material.
However, many people rave about the rug, too, so I think it's worth checking out.
The price is pretty reasonable and I like that you could go check it out in store as well.
3. Beautiful Simple Boho Rug

This rug is at the top of my list. Just a hint of color to play along with the nursery feels, but neutral enough to grow with her.
This rug is 100% cotton, which I read can be hard to clean, but will not shed as much as wool rugs.
This particular rug comes in a bunch of different color options to choose from which is nice.
Most of the reviews are pretty good despite a few one-off posts about the varying colors – some said it was super gray, others said the colors were brighter in person.
Either way, I think this one is a winner.
4. Hand Woven Ivory and Silver Premium Wool Area Rug

If you are looking for something more simple, this is a great option. It is 100% wool.
I have had great luck buying rugs on
The best part of this particular rug is the price.
Many of the hand woven rugs end up being super pricey, but this one is pretty affordable.
5. Hand Woven Solid Wool Rug

Since wool is such good durability, I included one more on here that adds a little texture to the room, but still stays pretty neutral.
Wool rugs are still in the shedding side of rug life, so keep that in mind.
Again, this is another well-priced option.
And, since it is handwoven, you don't have to worry about the weird gas that could emit from it.
Definitely worth considering.
6. Handmade Flatweave Light Gray & Ivory Cotton Area Rug

Last, but not least, this flatweave, handmade beauty also comes at a great price.
It's the last one on my list before I make a decision.
I like this one because it 100% cotton and washable.
The pattern is also nice and subtle.
This one comes in a variety of color options, too.
Of the two
Definitely sways me.
Now to make a decision!
With so many great options out there, I have at least narrowed down the choices to a neutral rug that fits the vibe I'm wanting in the nursery, but I need your help!
